Students celebrate Halloween at RIT
in a variety of ways from wearing their costume to class to attending events
such as Trunk or Treat, a party hosted by the RIT residence advisors in the StudentDevelopmentCenter,
and many individual Halloween celebrations.
I was one
of those students eager for Halloween and wore my costume to all my Friday,
October 30th. After classes, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the College of Science Halloween party. There, I found
many of the traditional treats - doughnuts, candy, and apple cider - as well as
a costume contest and a pumpkin-carving contest. Teachers participated as well.
One was a dinosaur, another was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, and an angel and
devil followed another teacher around as his “id” and “superego.” Students were
just as elaborately dressed. There were rock stars, gothic princesses, pirates,
a mummy, and appropriately enough, a couple mad scientists. This party was
loads of fun with being in the costume contest (sadly, I did not win), watching
students frantically carve up pumpkins, and in general, noticing the spirit of
Halloween in the air. I can’t wait for next year!
Here are
some pictures from the party.
The dinosaur I saw at the party.
Me with the winner of the costume contest. The winner was actually my friend, Margaret. She made her entire costume down to putting fake blood on her boots!
