Flip Flops or Winter Boots? PDF Print E-mail

Grab your winter coat—it’s 32 degrees outside! Just kidding, it’s almost 60.

Rochester weather cannot seem to make up its’ mind. Not that I’m complaining about a 60 degree day in the middle of October but still! Kind of throws me for a loop when one day they’recalling for snow and I need to bundle up in a scarf and boots and then the next day blue skies and a t-shirt would be perfectly acceptable clothing choice.

It seems as though weather is a hot topic for discussion around here. All of the college info sessions, accepted students days, and tours that I’ve participated in that is always a big question. Not to say that it’s not a good one. I, for one, do not mind cold weather. At all. No, seriously. In fact, I’ve even gone as far as tellingpeople that I came here for the snow. Which is mostly true—there is the academic side of things, good school, etc. But that’s for another post!  I was looking for a school up north where I could see some snow! And boy, I think Rochester lives up to my expectations... I am supplied with more than enough snow.

But do you know what cold weather and snow are good for?! Hockey! That’s right, I can’t go a post without talking about it. RIT is getting a slow start to their season, there has been one home game so far for Brick City Weekend (which is also known as Family Weekend). The game was absolutely amazing. Over 7,000 fans all wearing orange and cheering louder than ever! I convinced my parents that, yes, we did have to arrive almost and hour and a half in advance but I think they understood when we walked right in and got front row seats right on the ice! While games at Ritter Arena are still awesome, there is something about being in such a big arena with so many people cheering and orange almost everywhere you looked.Definitely a game I won’t forget, hopefully they make it a Brick City tradition!

Emily you'll be glad to hear it is a new tradition! The hockey game is going to be the big event next year for Brick City Homecoming as well! It will just be the weekend after Columbus day next year.

I love the weather right now! Even if it is causing my allergies to go insane. But I've been wearing my Uggs still because now I don't have to worry about getting snow and salt all over them. =)
