Today, the CO-OP office held it's annual Creativity: Career in Motion event.  It is an event gear towards CIAS (College of Imaging Arts and Sciences) students and alumni who are looking for CO-OPs, internships, or just a job!  This is a great event for CIAS students to attend because it gives you an idea of what is out there in the art and design world and also gives you a chance to see where you stand and what you might need to improve on while you are here at RIT.

Design firms, Ad agencies, Museums/Galleries, and other companies come in and speak to students about what they are looking for and the demands of the "real world."  There are also portfolio reviews, which is a great way to show your range and your personality.  I went today expecting nothing really because I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when i grow up! lol Tongue out

I spoke to two different people, one was from a design studio and the other was Albright-Knox, which is a contemporary art museum in Buffalo.  The person at the design studio was looking for a summer intern so I showed her my stuff.  It went pretty well and the cool thing about the position is that they get to work on art work for Disney!  So I'm definitely going to apply for that.  With Albright-Knox, I wanted to get someone's perspective in the museum world to see if maybe I could jump into that someday.

Both establishments were very helpful in pointing me towards the right direction and giving advice as to how I should present my work better and paths that I might want to take in the future.  I really found this event to be beneficial and hopefully things will turn out well for the summer!
