Mechanical Engineering

Hello Everybody! My name is Pattie Schiotis. I am a second year Mechanical Engineering student and I am from the Capital Region of New York. When I am not in class, or studying in the Wallace Library, I can usually be found hanging out with my friends, sleeping, or texting. I am a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, which is one of the sororities of the College Pan-Hellenic Council. In addition to being an active member of greek life at RIT, I also play flute in the Concert Band, and take part in various activities put on but the Women Engineers @ RIT (WE@RIT).

In high school, I was a member of the softball, indoor track, and cross country teams. I was also involved with my church youth group. During my senior year, I was able to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference, and that was an amazing experience. I love basically every type of music, and I am in love with the Ocean’s movies. The only programs I watch on TV are Sportscenter, Yankee Games, and Greek.

While in college, I hope to experience life changing events. I have never traveled anywhere out of the country, besides Canada. I want to be able to escape the New York culture and experience the world. I am also looking forward to going to Co-op, and getting those hands on experience for my possible career choices. Even though my course load is intense, I still manage to balance my schedule with activities that I love, and relaxing with my friends. I would never be able to attend college and just work on schoolwork. I need those slight mental escapes to keep my mind stable.

I attended the College and Careers Fair after my Junior year of High School, and feel in love with the campus. I also learned that RIT has an excellent program for Women Engineers.

Double Trouble We've actually switched before, back in high school. The tecahers didn't notice, until the other kids in the class I went too kept making references to "peppermint patties" and "chicken patties." It took the teacher about an hour to realize that we switched!
